PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS

SYSTEM AIV, AIV PLANNING & AIV FACILITIES

Aims and Objectives

The aims and objectives of this Professional Development Program (PDP) are to present participants with an overview of the key elements of AIV activities and the needs and specifications of AIV facilities for nano, micro and mini satellites. The participants should be able to build up a core AIV plan and to specify his/her needs for AIV facilities.

This specific executive program is for project management and planning staff and not training for AIV and testing engineers. For the latter, there is an 8-week AIV professional training course for a team of engineers which is included as part of a package, if the client procures AIV facilities. The focus of this course is AIV of space projects, but there is also an emphasis for employment of AIV facilities for non-space projects, for instance electronic industry.

It is suggested the course format should be informal, where questions to the presenter are encouraged throughout the modules. This enables participants to obtain immediate clarifications, or further detailed explanations of the topic at hand. For better understanding, many concrete examples of ongoing and completed micro- and mini-satellite projects will be given.

At the end of each day, time has been set aside for additional interactive questions and answers, to enable further clarifications of specific topics covered during the day. This has been created to ensure all the relevant topics have been covered, to the level of detail desired by the participants.

On Day-5, the participants and the instructor will develop a rough AIV plan for a micro-satellite together and will specify the requirements for the needed AIV facilities. If desired, the second half of Day-5 can be used to specify AIV facilities for an actual satellite project of the participants.

The course will be conducted by an AIV Department Head of an ESA certified satellite bus and satellite-component manufacturer with nearly 10 years of experience in mini- and micro-satellite construction, integration and verification. The expert will include tips and tricks to reduce the costs of AIV without raising the risk for the project.
